A new era

Ntesports is delighted to announce a new strategic partnership with the Esports Federation of Nigeria (EFN), bringing together Nigerian leadership and ambition with Ntesports’ experience in esports, education and international development.

The partnership follows discussions between Ntesports Managing Director Nik Turner and EFN Board Member Ikechukwu Okoye around the continued development of esports in Nigeria and, in particular, the opportunities that exist when education, skills and career development are placed at the heart of a growing esports ecosystem.

Over recent years, Ntesports has watched with interest as the Esports Federation of Nigeria has continued to develop its national approach to esports.

For Ntesports, what makes that development particularly exciting is the opportunity to think beyond competition alone.

Esports can provide a platform for education, digital skills, employability, entrepreneurship, creative industries and careers. Building those opportunities alongside competitive pathways can help create an ecosystem that is sustainable and delivers wider value to young people, education providers and industry.

Local Leadership. Global Insight. Education at the Core.

The new partnership is built around a simple principle: local leadership, global insight and education at the core.

EFN brings an understanding of Nigeria, its esports community, its stakeholders and its ambitions for the future. Ntesports brings extensive experience from the UK esports education sector alongside insight gained through its wider international work and relationships.

Rather than attempting to simply replicate what has been developed elsewhere, the partnership will focus on sharing experience, ideas and good practice that can be considered and adapted to meet Nigeria’s own needs.

Ntesports will act as a strategic education partner and external adviser to EFN, with the two organisations working collaboratively as opportunities and priorities develop.

The relationship has deliberately been designed to remain flexible, allowing both organisations to explore projects, ideas, partnerships and initiatives where their combined experience can add value.

Supporting the Next Stage of Development

Nik Turner, Managing Director of Ntesports, said:

“I’ve been really impressed by the progress being made by the Esports Federation of Nigeria and, more importantly, by the ambition behind what they are trying to build.

“There is a real opportunity to develop an esports ecosystem where education, skills and career progression sit alongside competition from the beginning.

“The UK has learned an enormous amount about esports education over the last decade – both what works and what doesn’t – and through Ntesports I’m fortunate to also have insight into developments taking place internationally.

“This partnership isn’t about us arriving with a UK model and saying, ‘this is how you should do it’. Nigeria has its own opportunities, challenges and ambitions. Our role is to work alongside Ike and the Federation, share our experience and network, provide an external perspective and support them wherever we can.

“I’m genuinely excited to see where the relationship takes us.”

Ikechukwu Okoye, Board Member of the Esports Federation of Nigeria, welcomed the collaborative nature of the partnership and the opportunities it could create:

“I appreciate the flexibility of the arrangement and the fact that it is focused on collaboration and mutual support. It makes it easy and practical for us to explore what we can build together.

“I’m excited about the potential of connecting the work we’re doing in Nigeria with wider UK and international opportunities.”

Building Connections Beyond Borders

The partnership also reflects a wider philosophy at Ntesports: that the continued growth of esports education benefits from collaboration across borders.

While countries are at different stages of developing their esports ecosystems, there is considerable value in sharing experience, connecting educators and organisations, opening international conversations and learning from different approaches.

For Ntesports, the partnership with EFN represents another opportunity to contribute to that process while supporting the development of esports education in one of Africa’s largest and most dynamic markets.

For EFN, it provides access to an external strategic education perspective and connections into the wider UK and international esports education landscape.

The partnership has now been formally signed by Ikechukwu Okoye on behalf of the Esports Federation of Nigeria and Nik Turner, Managing Director of Ntesports.

Now the exciting part begins: exploring what we can build together.
