Ntesports Congratulates Students in Hosting ‘The Demo’ Rocket League Tournament at Chichester College

In an impressive display of skills and organisation, Esports students under the guidance of Matt Creed, the course leader, successfully hosted their Rocket League Esports tournament, ‘The Demo’, at Chichester College on Friday 5th April.

This event was part of the Level 3 Extended Diploma BTEC in Esports for Unit 5 – Esports Events, designed to immerse students in the real-world experience of planning, coordinating, and managing an esports event, while also evaluating the skills gained through the process.

The unit emphasises the importance of events management within the esports industry, challenging students to apply creativity and organisational skills to produce memorable esports events. Through this hands-on experience, students investigated successful esports events, used planning tools, coordinated logistics, and solved problems on the fly, embodying the essence of effective event management.

Ntesports Managing Director Nik Turner was invited to the event by Matt Creed, marking a special occasion as Turner was able to witness first-hand the talents and efforts of the next generation of esports professionals.

The tournament featured several teams, including the Chi Cobras, HSDC Storm, and QM Samurai, the latter of which comprised students Harry Lunn, Tate Fletcher, and Adam Nichols from Queen Mary’s College, who had previously been taught by Turner.

QM Samurai delivered a commendable performance, securing second place after a thrilling 4-3 defeat against HSDC Storm in the grand final. Harry Lunn was celebrated as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), highlighting his exceptional skill and contribution to the team.

Turner praised the event, commenting on the exceptional quality of the Rocket League matches and the exemplary organisation by the students. The event covered all aspects of a professional esports event, including technical setup, hosting, shoutcasting, streaming, and media coverage, showcasing the students’ ability to manage complex tasks effectively.

Ntesports expressed its delight in supporting ‘The Demo’, recognising it as a vital opportunity for students to apply their learning in a practical setting. The success of the event reflects the comprehensive education provided by the BTEC course, preparing students for future careers in esports events management or further study in this field.

Through continued support, Ntesports continues to foster the growth and development of the esports community, highlighting the significant impact of education on the industry’s future.
