A Milestone for Scottish Esports: Nik Turner Hosts Day 1 of Phase25 at Murrayfield Stadium

The Phase25 Esports Conference made history this week as Scotland’s first dedicated esports conference, held at the iconic Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. The event brought together educators, industry professionals, and innovators to explore how esports is shaping the future of education, industry, and sport.

Ntesports Managing Director, Nik Turner, had the honour of hosting Day 1 of the conference, leading the day’s discussions and connecting with speakers and delegates from across the UK and beyond.

Throughout the day, attendees explored topics including:

The role of esports in education and its links to STEM, teamwork, and employability.
The expanding role of esports within industry and defence.
How traditional sports organisations are embracing esports and gaming to engage new audiences.

But it wasn’t all discussions it was hands-on too. Ntesports was proud to showcase two cutting-edge technologies currently making waves in the UK education and esports scene:

UKHado, the augmented reality (AR) technosport that combines physical activity with competitive gaming.

VTEC VR Tennis, a fully immersive virtual reality tennis experience designed for use in schools and colleges.

These demonstrations, led by Jim Sephton (CEO UK HADO) , and Stuart Kosters (VTEC UK Partnerships Director for Education and events), gave attendees a first-hand look at how immersive technology can transform engagement in learning and competition.

Nik commented:

“It was a fantastic day for esports in Scotland. To see such enthusiasm from educators, institutions, and partners was brilliant. Events like this show just how powerful esports can be, not just as competition, but as a driver of innovation, inclusion, and real-world skills.”
The Phase25 Esports Conference marked a significant step forward for esports in Scotland, setting the stage for continued collaboration across education, technology, and sport. Ntesports is proud to have played a leading role in this milestone event and looks forward to supporting the continued growth of esports across the UK.”

The excitement didn’t stop there, Phase25 continued across Saturday and Sunday with a full games expo at Murrayfield.
The weekend featured live tournaments, interactive stands and exhibitors, and a packed schedule of talks and workshops from across the gaming and esports community.

It was the perfect way to round off a fantastic weekend, celebrating all aspects of gaming culture and showcasing the incredible talent and innovation driving the industry forward in Scotland.
