WHAT IS HADO?
HADO is the world’s first augmented reality (AR) sport, blending physical movement with digital gameplay in a fast-paced, team-based experience now played across the globe.
At its core, sport inspires, unites, and energises. With HADO, students achieve a sense of accomplishment together, where effort meets innovation, and teamwork becomes thrilling. By fusing cutting-edge technology with the raw excitement of competition, HADO transforms not only how we play – but how we experience sport. It’s immersive, dynamic, and electric – both for players and spectators alike. Techno sports like HADO are more than just games; they’re the future of engagement, connection, and possibility. This is the world we’ve always imagined. Now it’s real – and ready to be played.
How do you play HADO?
HADO is played between two teams on a standard 10x6m court, divided by a centre line. However, if you’re working with fewer players or limited space, the game can easily be adapted to a smaller court to keep the experience fast-paced and engaging.
Each player wears an AR headset and a wrist-mounted sensor that track real-world movement and translate it directly into the game. To attack, players thrust their arm forward to launch a virtual energy ball in the direction they’re facing.
Players are protected by four floating “petals” visible through the headset. If an opponent’s energy ball hits one of your petals, it disappears. Lose all four, and you’re knocked out (KO’d) and temporarily removed from play for 5 seconds. After that, you respawn with all four petals restored.
Players can also deploy virtual shields to block incoming enemy fire – while still allowing their own shots to pass through.
Each match lasts 80 seconds, with the winning team being the one that scores the most KOs. Games are usually played as a best-of-three series for added intensity and teamwork.

FAQ's - HADO Non Commercial License
Do we need our own equipment for the broadcast?
HADO is a next-generation AR (Augmented Reality) team sport where players wear a head-mounted display and wrist sensors to battle using virtual energy balls and shields. It blends physical activity with cutting-edge technology to promote teamwork, fitness, and digital engagement.
What is the difference between AR and VR?
AR (Augmented Reality) adds digital elements to the real world. In HADO, players see the actual court and other players around them, with virtual energy balls, shields, and petals overlaid through the headset. You stay aware of your physical surroundings while interacting with the digital game.
VR (Virtual Reality) creates a completely immersive digital environment, replacing the real world entirely. In VR, users typically can't see their physical surroundings without removing the headset.
HADO uses AR, which makes it safer for active gameplay and perfect for schools - allowing full movement while keeping players grounded in the real world.
How is HADO relevant to the curriculum?
court need to be a permanent fixture?HADO supports multiple curriculum areas:
PE: Encourages physical movement, coordination, and team play.
Computing/ICT: Demonstrates real-world AR and sensor technology in action.
Esports/Digital Media: Links well with esports qualifications and digital strategy.
PSHE & Enrichment: Builds communication, self-confidence, and group cohesion.
What age groups is HADO suitable for?
HADO is designed for KS2 through post-16 learners, with gameplay adaptable for ages 6 to adult. It can be scaled for primary, secondary, and FE/HE settings.
Is it safe for students to play?
Yes. HADO is a non-contact sport played in a clearly defined arena. The wearable equipment is lightweight and tested for safety. Rules and briefings ensure students understand spacing, movement, and fair play. Matches last 80 seconds, allowing for safe bursts of activity.
What are the space and equipment requirements?
Minimum indoor area of 6m x 10m with a flat, unobstructed surface.
Access to power and Wi-Fi.
Provided kit includes headsets, motion sensors, tablet controller, and scoring system.
Can be set up in sports halls, drama studios, or even large classrooms.
Do I need to have the suggested court size of 10 x 6m?
No, 10 x 6m is the optimal size for full 3v3 gameplay, but HADO is flexible and can be adapted to smaller spaces.
A 6m wide court is ideal for 3 players per team
Around 4m wide works well for 2 players per team
Each player needs approximately 1–2 metres of movement space, so as long as the area is safe, clear, and allows for team separation, you can scale the game to fit your available indoor space.
Do staff need special training to run HADO?
A simple induction and training is provided for staff. Most centres find it easy to run with PE, IT, or esports staff. Our team offers full setup, demo sessions, and optional CPD workshops for ongoing confidence.

If you are planning to hire out your HADO court for commercial use then this license is not suited to you. You will need to explore other licensing options. The non-commercial license has been introduced specifically for education use to reduce the costs of HADO.
