NTesports & Yoyotech Celebrate South West Esports Talent at Wiltshire College
Nik Turner, Managing Director of NTesports and representative for Yoyotech, proudly joined the judging panel at Wiltshire College & University Centre for an inspiring day of competition, creativity, and community.
The event marked the official showcase of the college’s brand-new Yoyotech – Esports For Education facility, developed in partnership with AOC International Europe B.V., as part of the South West Skills Challenge.
The challenge brought together teams from three regional colleges, each tasked with a unique branding brief: to create and pitch their own esports team concept based around two UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project combined innovation, teamwork, and global awareness—key skills at the heart of both the esports industry and modern education.
Nik Turner, who judged the event alongside other industry figures, commented:
“It was a fantastic day of esports and education in action. The creativity and thought that went into each presentation was outstanding, and the standard across all teams made it incredibly tough to judge.”
After a closely contested final, congratulations went to the winning team from New College Swindon—Mckale Colaco and Luis de Castro—who impressed the panel with their branding concept and thoughtful integration of sustainability themes. The winners took home some fantastic prizes provided by Adam Phillips at Corsair, helping to support their future journeys in esports and digital design.
The event was expertly organised by Rhian Ramsden and Matthew Sproston, who ensured everything ran smoothly and professionally throughout the day. Their dedication to creating a meaningful experience for learners was evident in every detail.
The showcase also offered a chance for leading figures in esports education to reconnect and share insights. Nik Turner had the opportunity to catch up with Cameron Vanloo from Staffordshire University and Gil Hamilton from South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, discussing the future of esports and the growing impact of dedicated facilities like Wiltshire’s new setup.
“Events like this remind us how vital it is to build these pathways for students,” Turner added. “It’s not just about competition—it’s about employability, creativity, and aligning esports with global goals and digital skills development.”
