Ntesports Expands Sponsorship Deal with Kenya’s CZY Esports, Boosting Grassroots Growth
Esports and Educational consultancy agency Ntesports has announced an expanded sponsorship deal with CZY Esports, a rapidly rising Kenyan esports organisation. This strengthened partnership follows the initial deal made earlier this year and aims to enhance CZY Esports’ competitive edge and foster the growth of esports talent in East Africa.
CZY Esports: A Rising Star with Global Ambitions
Founded in 2017 by a group of five friends driven by a shared passion for gaming, CZY Esports has evolved from a small, local team into one of the most promising esports organisations in East Africa. With a clear mission to rival global giants like FaZe Clan, CZY Esports is setting its sights on proving its prowess beyond Africa, targeting international success.
Starting with casual competitions in popular games like Fortnite and Call of Duty, the team quickly realized their potential, transitioning to serious competitive play. Today, CZY Esports boasts a diverse roster, competing in multiple top-tier titles, including Call of Duty Mobile (CODM), PUBG Mobile (PUBGM), FC24, Fortnite, and Valorant. The organisation’s teams feature young, talented players from Kenyan junior and senior secondary schools and universities, showcasing the region’s burgeoning youth talent.
Upcoming Tournaments: NAICCON and Carry1st Africa Cup
CZY Esports is preparing for a busy schedule, beginning with their participation in NAICCON this Saturday, November 16th. NAICCON, part of the Nairobi Comic Convention series, has been a staple of Kenya’s pop culture scene since 2014. The event attracts over 6,000 attendees, including artists, YouTubers, cosplayers, gamers, and digital content creators.
Following NAICCON, CZY Esports’ Call of Duty Mobile team will represent Kenya in the Carry1st Africa Cup, a three-day tournament starting on Thursday, November 21st. The team’s journey to the finals began with online qualifiers on October 11th, where they showcased strong performances:
- Game 1 vs. Wrong Renge: Win 3-0
- Game 2 vs. Endless: Win 3-1
- Game 3 vs. Paragon Esports: Win 3-1
- Regional Finals vs. Delta Esports: Loss 1-3
Despite a tough loss in the regional finals, CZY Esports secured third place, earning a spot in the African LAN finals as the top runner-up team. The qualifiers were a learning experience, with technical challenges such as device overheating affecting their performance. However, the team gained valuable insights and strategies, which they plan to implement in the finals.
Ntesports’ Commitment to Grassroots Esports
The expanded sponsorship from Ntesports includes financing for upgraded devices, addressing the technical issues faced in previous competitions and enabling CZY Esports to compete at the highest level.
Ntesports Managing Director Nik Turner expressed his optimism about the partnership’s impact on CZY Esports’ future success.
“We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with CZY Esports,” Turner said. “Their passion and potential are clear, and we are committed to supporting up-and-coming esports organisations through the challenges of this journey. We believe in fostering talent at the grassroots level, which is why we sponsor teams like Take Back Control in Chicago, CTRL Esports in the UK, and QM Samurai at Queen Mary’s College.”
With this expanded deal, Ntesports and CZY Esports are poised to continue building a sustainable and thriving esports ecosystem in Africa. As they prepare for the upcoming tournaments, CZY Esports aims to demonstrate their capabilities and make a significant mark on the international stage.
