ntesports Proudly Sponsors Groundbreaking Overwatch 2 Competition at Queen Mary’s College
ntesports is thrilled with the success of a sponsored student led events at Queen Mary’s College in Basingstoke. This event was not only a showcase of high-level competitive play but also a testament to the passion and dedication of students pursuing the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Esports at the college.
The competition, branded as “Innovate,” was masterfully planned and presented by second-year students Kimi, Lex and Michael, plus – Tyler and Tate, both of whom have previously shined on stage at the finals of the British Esports Students Championships. Their experience and commitment were the driving forces behind the event’s success, drawing some of the most talented players in the Overwatch community, including former Overwatch contenders.
“Innovate” took place in the college’s main hall and marked a significant moment for everyone involved, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of the students. It was supported by ntesports, a company founded by Nik Turner, former lecturer and Head of Esports at Queen Mary’s College. Under Nik’s guidance, ntesports has become known for its dedication to nurturing grassroots esports, with a growing portfolio of sponsorship deals across the globe.
This charity event also highlighted and supported QMC’s “Challenge Abroad” scheme, which encourages students to engage in voluntary work worldwide, supporting less fortunate communities. Through esports, “Innovate” contributed to this noble cause, underlining the positive impact of gaming and competitive events in fostering community support and global outreach.
The success of the Overwatch 2 competition was largely attributed to the unwavering support of the esports course lead, Stuart Folkes, and the dedicated teaching team comprising Natasha Bickleman, Darren Beasley, and Jerome Shah. Their efforts ensured the event was a memorable and impactful experience for all participants and attendees.
Nik Turner, Managing Director at ntesports, expressed his delight at the event’s overwhelming success: “We are incredibly proud to have sponsored such a pioneering event at Queen Mary’s College. I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the students and the teaching team at QMC. Their hard work and passion for esports have truly made a difference.”
ntesports continues to demonstrate its commitment to the esports community, supporting grassroots initiatives in the UK, such as CTRL esports and QM Samurai, in America with the Chicago-based “Take Back Control,” and most recently, CZY Esports in Kenya.
